AEWUC'09
The 2nd Asia-Europe Workshop on Ubiquitous Computing 2009 (AEWUC'09)
Laforet Shuzenji, Shuzenji, Shizuoka, Japan Aug 3 - 4, 2009
Scope of the Workshop
The Keio University, Tokyo Denki University, and University of Oulu will arrange 3-4 August 2009 the 2nd Asian-European Workshop on Ubiquitous Computing. The workshop is arranged at Shuzenji, on a peninsula south-west from Tokyo, Japan. In addition to members of these three universities, the participants are invited guests from University of Tokyo, Waseda University, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Helsinki University of Technology, and Tampere University. The participants will present their recent research on ubiquitous computing, context recognition, sensor networks, middleware and application platforms, user interaction and public displays. A panel discussing the research directions of ubiquitous computing will be arranged as well.

PANEL: "How should we proceed in ubiquitous computing research?"

This panel discusses the future research directions of ubiquitous computing. Are we currently on the right track, or should we change our focus? Are researchers studying problems that have already been solved and commercialized? Are the basic assumptions correct, for example, "any service, anywhere anytime"? Are some important research fields currently neglected? What is the missing research that we should start conducting? What kind of results could we achieve in these new research fields?
